Chances- just a faint idea would do.

Well, I am an international student (from India) who's planning to apply for admission in Fall 2011 (Early Action/Decision) after taking a Gap Year.
I haven't taken the SAT yet (shall take it next summer). I'd be grateful if you could give me a faint idea of my chances of getting into an ivy league school (just Cornell,Dartmouth,Upenn and Columbia, not the others) or perhaps the other top notch schools like U of Chicago, NYU, Boston U, Northwestern, Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkley, etc

I shall have finished 8-9 GCE O-levels (tougher than the GCSEs) by May/June 2010 (with re-sits in only 2 subjects) and expect to receive all As.

Students usually study 3-4 GCE A-levels, but I am presently studying 5, and wish to take up 2 more AS levels (making it one complete A level) next year. I'm trying to make the grades mostly As (with not more than 1 re-sit).

My present academic and extracurricular achievements include-

Purple-stripe Belt in Karate
All-round achiever in school (received certificate and award)
Table Tennis player
Chess Player
Involved with the school magazine
Participation in inter-school quizzes, competitions, debates, etc
Class Topper
Topper in Economics
Enrolled in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme (silver)
Attended Creative Writing workshops
Regular Community Service
Co-founder of Debate Society at school

Work Experience-

Freelance reporter for a popular newspaper.
Amateur Accountant.
Teach English and Math to underprivileged children.

During my gap year, alongside completing the extra A-levels I mentioned above, I intend to grow as a person by participating in all kinds of other extra-curricular activities. I might take up a summer job in the US (J1 visa), volunteer abroad or in India, learn foreign languages, etc.

I am not sure if this would count as a possible disadvantage, but the school in which I study (though an international one), is a 10000 sq. feet shabby building without even a playground, let alone proper facilities or opportunities for students. The teachers are great, but the management is abominable!

I intend to opt for a double major in Film Studies and Economics/Management/Psychology, or simply go for an independent major.

Thank you.

Please exclude “Columbia” from my choice of universities. I’d rather go for “Brown”.

Btw, just in case you’d like to know what A-level subjects I am doing/planning to do-

AS-levels (year 11):

Math
English Literature
Economics
Psychology
Business Studies
Sociology (shall take up next year)
Accounting/Geography (shall take up next year)

A2 level (year 12) exams to be given-

Math

I am also planning to apply to a few Liberal Arts Colleges like Williams/Amherst, Bard, Franklin and Marshall, Berea, Smith, Wellesley,Claremont McKenna,Connecticut, etc
