Not being in precalculus honors or precalculus at all is going to be a problem for College of Science. That plus your SAT score makes your application more borderline because they mean your math background isn’t at the level they expect.
Have you taken bio, Chem, and physics (in addition to AP bio and AP Chem - which strengthen your application, especially if you got a 4 or 5?)
I actually did take regular pre calc and trig last year. My freshman year I took algebra 2, so I do have 4 years of math credits. I took advanced bio freshman year and advanced Chem sophomore year.
Oh then, you’re good for Math and you have the two big AP science classes, that’ll be in your favor. Any reason you didn’t take calculus? (Fiest year calculus is weedout at Penn state even for student who already took it).
Did you take the AP tests and did you get 4+? Or just 3?
I did not take calc because many of the students that took it the year before, had gotten bad results with the teacher. The regular class was an easy A so that hopefully will benefit me. I did take AP tests, however got threes on them.
I submitted my application in mid October for Main Campus and also selected the summer semester as an option to increase my chances, how strong at my chances to get in?
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1200/1600
Rank: Top fifth
Extracurriculars: Lots of community work, varsity track and football team captain, also was in an outdoorsmen club for four years
Took all the maths, English’s, sciences, and history’s required, only have Spanish 1 with a 97% but it said you can correct this deficiency by passing a world language class while your there at PSU before you graduate.
How do my chances look? Thanks!
@seth0825 It will be less confusing for other posters if you create a new thread of your own to ask about your chances.
