I couldn’t find a class profile or anything

2010 direct admit here. You’re a competitive applicant, so make sure you have awesome personal statements.

thanks @speedsolver

Do you the acceptance rate into CS for direct admit and class average for those admitted ( SAT, GPA, EC’s)?

Acceptance rate is different every year. Usually about 100 students are admitted, and about 30-40 students commit to UW CSE. This is out of around 1,500+ students who list their intended major as CS or CE and then got into UW. From the past few years, it’s around 5% - 8% acceptance rate. This is from our open house a few months ago. Back when I was admitted, there were 1,100 qualified applicants, 70 were offered admission, and 32 of us accepted.

I’m not sure about the class averages, but the unweighted GPA is usually 3.85+, SAT at least 2200+, and ACT is comparable to the SAT score. Extra curricular activities vary – some have done programming in the past (including internships), some did sports, leadership positions, debate, etc. Every class has a diverse background.

Note that past experience in computer science/programming is NOT required. We always have a number of students who have never, ever programmed before who are offered direct admit. The admissions committee knows not all schools offer CS classes, students may have to work several jobs, etc. They look for strong math/physics/English backgrounds and potential to excel in the department.

Do you know if you are allowed to select 2 majors ( ex: CS and EE) so in the scenario that I don’t get accepted to CS I still have a chance at EE?

Hmm, good question! I’m not sure about the most up to date answer, but you used to be able to do that. Your application would be sent individually to the two departments (in this case, CSE and EE) for independent direct admit consideration. This is a great question to ask the CSE or EE advisors! :)

No problem! Good luck!
