Chances next year? How to improve?

Next year I am looking to apply for a double major in both Jazz Performance and Political Science. I go to one of the most highly ranked and acclaimed high schools in the country, except unfortunately do not have the most incredible grades in the world. I do, however, believe that I have a tremendous amount to offer.

What chance do you believe I have at Oberlin, given that I increase my grades for the next two years to nearly straight A's, get a 2000+ SAT score, write a great essay, and get great recommendations? Will my freshman grades harm me?

get some leadership in your activities, as well.

You don’t mention whether you’re taking AP’s. If your school offers them and you have not yet enrolled in one, you should! Hoping you’re also continuing with your Italian this year and maybe next?

I’m taking AP Bio this year and was recommended to take AP US, except because I am doing a separate program which I had to apply and be accepted to I am not. Next year I will take AP Pysch and Music Theory. As for honors- my school only offers them in English and Math, both of which you must apply to, be recommended for, and accepted into. They are of the same amount of rigor as an AP. And yes, I am continuing with Italian now and through senior year.
