I’m a prospective student looking at Northwestern. I really liked the campus and am thinking about applying ED to either Northwestern or Wash U. I am applying to McCormick school of engineering. What are my chances ED and regular?

I’d say you have a very good chance ED. The stats are all there, and the ECs are very good. If the why NU essay is very good, I’d say you’re probably in. RD on the other hand, i don’t know. The acceptance rate is around 5% compared to 35% ED, so it’s impossible to say for that, but normally you have to be the best of the best to get in RD. If i had to give a %, maybe 40-60% ED, 10-20% RD. Chance me for ED? Look at my most recent thread
Yea, you’ll definitely get in! Don’t be offended by what I’m about to say but NU loves their wealthy students, so you being clearly qualified and being well-off means you’ll be a shoe-in. If anything get an interview and express interest, and I’m sure you’ll be able to get ED. WashU is less predictable but I’m sure you could get in there too.
You have a really good shot at both schools, and they are both terrific, but for engineering i would probably favor NU.
Congratulations
Could you please chance me?
Although I go to a community college, I believe I have the potential to transfer to a competitive university like NU. I just want to give a try, but is there some possibility if I can get in with the following -
High school GPA - 4.0
SAT score - 1350
Interhouse soccer winner (in team) {interhouse = between schools}
Interhouse basketball tournament winner - (twice in team)
Literary essay winner in senior year (medaled)
Science fair winner in senior year (medaled)
In Dean’s list
Current progress in community college -
GPA - 3.8
Honor’s student
Phi Theta Kappa society member
President’s scholar standing and certificate
Volunteered at medical group
Volunteering at hospital
Involved in a research at college
I understand my SAT score is low. But is it possible if they consider the application essay and current progress more for a transfer student, than the test scores. It would be really helpful if I can get suggestions to improve in other things until I transfer. So should I apply? Or is there hardly any possibility to get in?
