<p>Okay, so i am a Junior from New Jersey, with a 4.3 weighted GPA or a 3.6 unweighted GPA. I have an SAT score of 1880, with another SAT test coming up in June, which I hopefully can bring up. I played 3 years of soccer and another year continuing next year. I also am a part of Spanish Honors Society, National Honors Society, JSA (Junior Statesmen of America), and have recently been accepted to go to Boys State NJ as a candidate for PHHS. I also have been a part of Student Council for 2 years, and the Italian Club for 2 years. I would like to know what are my chances of getting in to U. of Michigan, cause I know it is a very competitive school, but also accepts many individuals cause it is such a large school.</p>
<p>The three most important things UM looks at when admitting students are GPA, test scores, and the rigorousness of your high school schedule. Usually high schools report both unweighted and weighed GPA and a 3.6 is below the average of 3.8. The middle 50th percentile is 1990-2200 which makes your 1880 in the bottom 25th percentile. Extracurriculars play little role in admission. You would also need some really good teacher recommendations and write some outstanding essays. From what I’ve seen you say, I would not be surprised if you received a defer first and then possibly an admit. There is some chance of an admit right away. I would recommend applying early action as you will have a better chance. Advice: take a rigorous senior year schedule and try and bump up that unweighted GPA and the SAT score. Good luck!</p>

<p>A 3.6/1880 is a reach for U-M. 6 AP classes + Honors Physics will not help if it results in a drag on the GPA.</p>
<p>Try to improve your SAT to at least 2000. Michigan deemphasizes the SAT, but since your GPA is lower than Michigan’s preferred range, a strong SAT could help. </p>
<p>Finish your Junior year as strong as you can. Do very well your first two quarters of senior year. </p>
