Chances of Acceptance

What are my chances with a cumulative weighted GPA of 85.49 at a rigorous private college preparatory school, SAT total 1850 (Math: 670, CR: 550, Writing: 630) . I only took ACT once and scored a low 25. Problem is I submitted both SAT and ACT, since the school recommended it and said they would take the test that helped me the most. Should I bank on the SATs or should I retake the ACT? Currently taking AP English Lit/Comp, AP Calculus AB, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, AP Studio Art 3D (Ceramics). Have visited and shown interest and have several relatives both graduated from Clemson and attending currently, not sure that really helps, but the application asked.

Yikes those grades (especially if they’re weighted) are pretty low - SAT is average and ACT score is low. You probably should have just submitted the SAT…that was bad advice from the school. I know alumni relation does matter but I’m not sure if that matters if it’s direct family members (parents/siblings) or if relatives also are considered.

Good luck!

Based on my schools acceptance (I live 5 min from Clemson) you will get in if you have an sat of 1200 or higher. Clemson won’t look at your act because they take the best score. Your not guaranteed, but you have a decent shot!

Thanks for the feedback. Went to the game today, great fun! Hoping for good news in Feb.

Anyone know if Clemson really looks at mid-term reports? A/Bs in my 3 AP and 1 Honors class this semester. Wish i had been more studious first two years of highschool, but being a high ranking private school, its a very rigorous curriculum. Does Clemson look at Junior/Senior year mostly? Or strictly overall GPA? Really hope to get into my first choice (in-state) although I know I am borderline with the SATs in my post above! Still waiting on others as well. Have been accepted into Univ of Alabama College of Engineering, but not quite as selective as Clemson I know. Roll Tide would take some getting used to! The waiting is the worst, but hoping for an added reason to celebrate my birthday on the 15th!!
