Chances of Acceptance

really would like to be accepted to Notre Dame and I would like to get opinion on my chances.
I go to a good private Christian High School in Ohio.
top 10% in a class of 56.
30 on the ACT and a cumulative GPA of 4.1/4.0.
Instead of AP Classes my school offers PSEO classes which are offered by a local university where I recieve high-school and college credit for one class.
With PSEO I have taken Speech, Western Civilization, Government and Physics.
Of the three AP classes my school offers, AP Calculus is the only I have taken Not sure on score.
Recieved Math Medal award

My essay and reconmendations are good.
With my resume what are my chances of acceptance?

Hm…you’re definitely in the ballpark. One thing that would help - what’s your unweighted GPA?

^^not really. your ACT is below 50% and your ECs are minimal

A 4.1 is a strong GPA and a 30 would definitely put him in the ballpark. You don’t need a 36 and to be a part of every club ever to make it into Notre Dame.

“Minimal” ECs? Four years of football and baseball together with NHS Presidency and being part of the Student Council are strong ECs. A hell of a lot more work involved in that than in being in 8 different random clubs which meet every few weeks.

I agree that his ACT could be higher, but I would guess that he still has a pretty good shot.

^four years of two sports is the highest commitment. everything else is 1-2 years. only 1 year varsity shows up as odd.

Only one year of varsity shows up as odd? Did you actually play any sports in high school? Because hard work is just as important as natural talent when it comes to earning a varsity letter. Faulting him for only one varsity letter would basically boil down to faulting him for his athleticism (or lack therefore).

Sometimes the fanaticism on CC makes me really sad…

ya i’m in agreement with gravitysrainbow here, i’ve been fortunate to play varsity for 3 years for both soccer and basketball but a large part of that has to do with being enrolled at a small school… at a school of around 3,000+ kids there’s no way i would’ve been able to do both

OK, guys. I’m taking the ACT again in December so hopefully I will raise it. I’m not really sure about the unweighted GPA though. Thanks for the little hope I can become a “Domer”.
