Chances of admission if waitlisted

Hi,
I just got an e-mail from Kenyon saying that I have been waitlisted. I was wondering what my chances of being admitted are if I accept a place on the waitlist. I do not know what my position is on the list, but there are about 200 on the waitlist. I appreciate your help.

Check out waitlist numbers from previous years. There’s usually a lot of variation and thus no way to make a prediction.

This is a highly variable number, you need to know how many students were offered wait-list status and then how many chose to accept that status before you can even begin to guess your chances. The problem is that this data is only reported sporadically by many schools. As suggested, check Kenyon’s Common Data Set.

Thank you.
I will do so.

Also may depend on whether you require need-based aid. In this economy, full payors can do better getting off a WL (not all need-blind schools are still need-blind when it comes to the WL).
