chances of admission

I am a caucasian female from a prestigious private school in Alabama.

I am currently a junior with a 3.98 weighted GPA and 89.4 average (as of the end of sophomore year).

I made a 5 on the AP Psychology Examination as a sophomore, and plan on taking the AP American Literature, AP US History, and AP Chemistry exams this spring. Besides that, I am currently enrolled in all honors classes. I have also take Latin through Level 3 and plan on continuing with Greek next year.

My extracurriculars include captain of Varsity Girls Soccer, Varsity Cross Country, competitive soccer, volunteering at Children's Hospital, Art Club, Service Club, and a summer job. I also plan on running for Senior Class President and Honor Court next year, but cannot rely on this yet!

Please let me know where I stand!

Of course I can’t say for certain, but the admissions office definitely takes into account more difficult classes. If you are in honors classes and do well on AP exams you should be a very strong applicant even with an 89.4 average GPA. Your extra curricular activities of course help.

Sewanee doesn’t recalculate GPA and they do superscore both the SAT and ACT. So assuming your transcript has your weighted GPA on it, that’s the # they’ll use. My daughter was accepted with similar stats, a little higher u/w GPA, but otherwise fairly similar. She did EA. I think you have a fair chance if you do EA. I can’t say for sure though, just going off of the kids that were admitted from D’s school. Good luck.
