anyone have any opinions?

bump…

Coltsfan18: Quiet on these boards, huh? Here’s an answer for you that you’ll consider lame, as it won’t make a judgment call. Having spent a lot of time on various College Confidential forums over the years, I don’t think there’s a more overused and silly topic as the “chance me” threads that come from current high school students. I mean this with no disrespect whatsoever, as I certainly understand the mindset and anxiety of the college search process, plus the need for some sort of validation of your accomplishments. This being said, here’s my feedback to you…

Assuming you’re attending a traditional public or private high school, I’d rely on feedback from your college guidance staff to select schools that best fit your priorities & profile. If other students at your high school have applied to UR in year’s past, and the school participates in a Naviance/Family Connection system, you can easily track the historical acceptance history by GPA and SAT/ACT scores. If your credentials are in line with historical trends at your particular high school, then your chances are good. Overall, I would say that the interest level in UR has increased significantly in recent years, which has resulted in more applicants and greater competition in the admission process. Good luck to you wherever you may end up!

Class of 2016 Admitted Student Profile from UR website:

[Student Profile - Undergraduate Admission - University of Richmond](http://admissions.richmond.edu/studentprofile/academics.html)

Dr.Zin, I couldn’t agree more with this, “I don’t think there’s a more overused and silly topic as the “chance me” threads that come from current high school students.” And again, no disrespect to the OP.

I hate these threads. It provides a false sense of security or can dash hopes where they shouldn’t be dashed. Ultimately 99.9% of those that post on these boards are not involved in admissions and can’t really say one way or the other.

ditto to previous replies…but here’s an answer from a random parent obsessed with college searches:

UR takes about one in 3 applicants. Your list is quite solid. Like any school, there will be random choices on who gets in…they need a drum major for the band, a football QB , etc
yet those applicants may not be as strong as you. UR is need-blind on admission. That’s great for affordability. Go for it, but why not throw some darts (applications) to other schools to cover the odds.
