I go to a Yeshiva High school where admission to Princeton is rare, however the people they have taken have been either spectacular academically, 97 average 1540 sats, or some have had sats in the mid 1400s. I was just wondering if Princeton has any policies regarding admission of Jewish students and I wanted to know what my chances are. When I visited the school I knew it was the only place I'd want to go.

Once upon a time, HYP did have quotas for Jewish students, but there are no such quotas today.

You have an amazing chance, especially if you apply ED. How do you manage to be involved in leading all of those organizations?

Thanks for the reply, its pretty rough leading all the organizations, basically I had to devote alot of time from weekends and pretty much all after school time that I had. I also managed to divide them up into sessions where we had most of the meetings. For example, Science Research meets heavily in the fall and then in the spring which is when most of the competitions are. Tennis we practice on weekends and when our season begins, Quiz Bowl, Debate, and Science competitions have ended. Young Republicans collaborates with other school organizations like anti bias so its very sporatic. All I can really say is that I basically said at the beginning of HS that I wont mind devoting alot of free time to x number of clubs etc. and then i just found the number growing. Also it takes expert teacher dodging. For example I managed to evade the faculty advisor for the biology magazine and when she tracked me down I pulled the good ole left a note in your mail box.

On the hillel site, Princeton is listed as having approximately 14% Jewish students, which is higher than in the past. There are definitely no quotas and I know many Jewish students who are extremely happy there.

I agree with frozen-tears. If Princeton is definitely your first choice, you should apply ED which should help your chances.

"When I visited the school I knew it was the only place I'd want to go."

ED is a good idea for this, yes, but PLEASE don't take this attitude. Find some other schools that you like, in case it doesn't work out. Admissions can be a fickle thing.

to clarify, only place Id want to go isnt literal, for example, if Harvard called me up one day and said we want you to come to harvard I wouldn't say no and laugh. It just means that its gonna be my ED choice.

Hey opimus, as a Jewish Princeton student right now, I can tell you there's a great Jewish community on campus. Apply early! We'd love to have you. Any more questions?

opimus, i might suggest you take a look around the website of princeton's center for jewish life, if you haven't already. good luck.

My final question, should I take the SATs for the 3rd time tomorrow, or Is my score good enough?

If you think you can do substantially better (2300+) do it, otherwise don't bother

Within the engineering department, which are princetons strongest fields. Also, realistically, how many certificates does the average student earn and can one pursue any certificate they desire or does it have to relate in some way to your major.
