Chances of being accepted into Brown, Tufts, NYU, etc

First of all, I am a high school Junior with the following stats/ ECs

97.5 GPA Unweighted. Not sure what weighted GPA will turn out to be, but I have taken plenty of honors and IBs (unfortunately only 1 AP that I won’t take until next year)

SAT - Based on practice tests, will likely turn out to be in the 1520 - 1540 range superscored (although I kind of messed up on the reading section of my first SAT)

3 Sport Athlete - Cross Country (Will likely be captain senior year), Indoor Track, and Track. I am not a phenomenal runner but I do well enough in races to help score points for my team.

Piano Composition - I have composed a few piano pieces in and outside of my schools Music Theory Class

Now for what I view as my strongest EC - Music Production. I have been producing music and doing sound design for about 3 years. Recently, I have won two relatively small remix competitions, have had my music promoted here and there, and plan to release a sample pack (which is a collection of sounds for other producers to use in their compositions, mine will focus on the specific area of neuro sound design). While I am definitely not famous or even what I would consider successful, I have definitely found my passion in music production and sound design and have developed my ‘style’ (or at least have begun to). On top of this I have created a community for other music producers (don’t want to post too much about this online though).

This Summer I plan to combine my passion for music production and my love of math by continuing to learn programming (now focusing on C++) and develop software synthesizers and effects using JUCE (which is used by universities such as UChicago and Stanford). I hope to major in computer science in college and eventually create sound design tools as a career.

P.S. Brown and Tufts were not random college choice, based on my college research, they are great matches for me, as they are less competitive and more collaborative compared to other top college. I have always found collaboration rather than competition to help me achieve my goals. I am only including this because I think it is important.

NYU has a great program in music production so could be the perfect place for you to marry your interests.

For any, if your stats work out as expected, your application will make it past any screen. Alons with thousands of others. At that point, anything could happen. You should be a viable candidate, though.

Hello, first of all, thank you for the response. As for NYU’s music production, while I still greatly consider attending, NYU, I would most likely not be interested in their music production course as I have already learned all of the “basics” and am now mostly concerned with developing myself as an artist. However I will look into this course, and regardless of whether or not it is for me, it certainly means there is a music production community at NYU. Thanks for the heads up!

Okay, I have received my SAT score and I got a 1510, although I definitely believe I can improve into the 1520 to 1540 range next time due to having kind of messed up on the first section on my 1510 SAT (I lost 70 of my points on that section)

You have a low chance at Brown (crapshoot unless ED), decent chance at Tufts, and great chance at NYU. You are a qualified applicant - the process is just too random at times.

Don’t assume that improvement in CR is easy. I personally improved 10 points in 6 months.

Have you checked out some LACs?

It was primarily a pacing issue, I should be in the 35 range for that section based on practice tests

A liberal arts college? I have checked out a few, do you have any recommendations?
