Chances of being dismissed UC Davis

So basically, I am not sure how being subject to dismissal works at UC Davis. Are you dismissed right away and you have to appeal to continue or do you get to talk to the dean first? For this particular case, it is for the reason that my quarterly gpa was below 1.5. It wasn't because I slacked however, it was more or less due to the fact that I had a serious personal problem. I have proper documentation from CAPS and I am coming up with a plan to make my next few years successful. This includes not going through with the change of college or major ( I was an English major trying to switch to Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior which also contributed to the problem). I am really worried and I am wondering what my chances of getting to stay in Davis are.

Were you on academic probation before the quarter when your GPA fell below 1.5? What was your GPA before the quarter and what is your cumulative GPA now? If you had been performing at a high level and suddenly had a single bad quarter I think it is unlikely that you would be suddenly dismissed. However, if your academic record has been consistently poor at UCD and you were already on academic probation, a GPA of 1.5 for a quarter could very well get you dismissed very quickly. There are always opportunities to appeal something like a dismissal but I doubt you would have the opportunity to speak with the Dean.

um, well i got a 1.34 for the quarter. My total GPA right now is still 2.34. I was on probation for one quarter last year but I got off right away. I was in good standing this year. Basically, yes. it was just one bad quarter. I had a serious personal issue that I was working through with a school therapist but basically it impacted my studies pretty badly.

Having a cumulative GPA above 2.0 probably means you are safe for now but you will probably be put back on academic probation and I really do not know how many times UCD will put somebody on academic probation before dismissing them.
