Chances of UC Davis Dismissal

I am a sophomore at UC Davis.

I got a 1.36 GPA this past Fall Quarter, as a result mainly of my slacking/skipping classes/wasting way too much time doing non-academic things.

I got that email regarding being subject to dismissal.

My overall GPA prior to this quarter was 3.3 and I have never been on academic probation, what are my chances of being dismissed?

I am freaking out! Please offer your thoughts!

Thank you guys
I have an appt with an academic advisor regarding this next week, but can't get this out of my mind until then, so please offer your honest thoughts

Hello
I am a freshman at UC Davis and with a
1.38 gpa, also received this dreaded email :frowning:
My reasons are that I was not used to studying or never needed more than 1 hr studying
So I would do things at the last minute , which never turns out right :frowning:
I thought that in college I would be an outsider since I am really not talkative but instead i got along well with my floor mates…maybe too well :(
I am guilty of skipping a couple classes and also missed an entire week of class because I got sick which really surprised me as I rarely get sick and it just had to be during this time -___-
During winter break I spent my time thinking of ways in which to correct my bad habits
and my parents happiness and frequent comments of " You’re in college! We are so Proud :D" made me promise myself to do my best next quarter but then I got that email
Im scared out of my mind and Cant get this out of my head. Ive already pictured the many ways I would face my parents and my family and I really do not want to :frowning:
Im sorry for my rambling…

No need to apologize, I feel you.
I am absolutely horrified too and I have been unable to sleep or function since I saw that email. I’ve also been having “apocalyptic” imaginations for what could happen if I get dismissed.

AHHHHH, well good luck to you. Have you set up an appointment to meet with the academic advisor yet? Let me know how it goes, I really hope both of us are allowed to stay in. I’ve been searching around like crazy on the internet and something I just found that is kinda comforting is on the Davis Wiki ([Academic Standing - Davis Wiki](http://daviswiki.org/Academic_Standing)) it says “Eventually the college will send a scary email to your ucdavis email address, informing you that if you don’t go and see an advisor, then they’re just going to kick you out of college. Don’t panic. Just follow the emails steps to sign up to meet with an advisor, and then remember to go to your appointment.(They will kick you out, so do NOT miss the appointment for any reason)
One quarter of “Subject to academic disqual” is usually okay. You must meet with an advisor and explain yourself. If you do it again, you’re automatically dismissed from the University.”

I have already set up an appointment. Its next week… which feels like forever
since im going to be thinking about this ALL the time :frowning: is that all that we can do for now?? just wait?? i mean besides what is instructed to do here https://students.ls.ucdavis.edu/handouts/interview.aspx

oh no the shame of being dismissed!! Ive also been searching in the internet for anyone who was in the same situation or was and what happened and all that…
I wish you luck as well!!

I guess so :(, guess all we can do is keep prepping for the interview

i was hoping someone on collegeconfidential had gone thru a similar situation and could give us some info/insight

I don’t mean to be nosy, but what ended up happening? Did you guys get to stay?
