From what I’ve seen from previous ED applicants, Harvard’s admission rate is pretty generous (obviously in comparison to its normal rates). It’s a reach for everybody, but you have a pretty decent shot.

@handlebiz69 You think even without being top 10%? I know i still have good test scores and overall high gpa but ive heard they will deny you for not being top10 because it brings down the rankings

Obviously not being in the top 10% is a detriment, but there are aspects of your profile that may balance out your shortcomings. For example, I think that the business ECs are noteworthy.

@handlebiz69 fair. I think I would have a much better chance at UPenn than harvard though, and stats would show that as well. either way a reach

@SStephen2015 solely because of class rank or what other factors?

Your GPA is fantastic
But not fantastic for Harvard
Your acts are also great but average for an Ivy
I think you have a good shot but top 15% isn’t fantastic
Your ECs are really good and I think you have a good shot but still a reach.

@SStephen2015 Gotcha; overall would you say that my ECs somewhat balance out the lack of top10%?

Look you have a good shot and I would sell my soul for your statistics
If you don’t get into Ivy
Pick some matches and find some safeties
Otherwise it doesn’t matter you just need some luck
