chances of football tickets

What are the chances of getting football tickets? for every year...When I visitied the stadium and toured it they said that the tickets are open to students at all of the campuses and that they sell out in 20 minutes online. Football is very important to me.

lol ohhh football tickets...haha.

You will receive info on this later. Basically each class has their day in June where their allotted proportion goes on sale on ticket master. Last year freshmen tickets sold out in 2 minutes while senior tickets took a few hours.

I believe this year they are putting tickets on your ID card to provent ticket scalping.

Yes, my S was shut out of student season tickets this year, but we were able to get tickets to every game. The only one where we paid more than face was the Illinois game at night. And yes, they are going to require you swipe your id next year, like they are doing for the basketball games this year. It will make it harder to scalp (good!). Here's the Collegian article on the new system: Tickets to go paperless - The Daily Collegian Online

so realistically what are the chances for a freshma...small? Is it like if you are on ticketmaster and you hit buy at the first minute you can, you wouldn't get them?

It's hard to predict what your chances will be this year. As others have mentioned, there's a new system planned. Since scalpers often scooped up many tickets right away, this system - if it works the way it should - will eliminate most purchases by scalpers, which should (in theory) leave more tickets available to students.

Last year, I believe freshmen tickets were gone in about a minute. We were poised at the keyboard and had everything ready, hitting the button as soon as the sale opened, and we still didn't get any tickets.

i heard they aren't selling tickets to branch campus students this upcoming year. could be a rumor but that would free up tickets for people at main

I did not hear anyhting about them not selling tickets to branches this year. I think that may be a warped rumor stemming from the ticekts on the ID card plan for this year.

Also note that when the tickets are on sale on the various days (fresh, soph etc), each class has a set adie amount of tickets reserved for them based on their proportion of the sutdent body they make up. (say 20% of PSU is freshmen, then 20% of the tickets are reserved for freshmen). So it is not first come-first serve. (it was like this two years ago, where ALL the tickets sold out in 1 hour. This past year was their first time online, I think it managed better, except for the horror stories of people's internets quitting on them.

so then most freshman will get tickets?

Last year my son was able to get freshman tickets but there are kids on his floor and others that he knows who did not get them. They all were on right away and the tickets were gone within a few minutes. Its all about luck.

Yeah, the day your class tickets come on sale you pretty much have to be sitting at the comp ready to go. I heard horror stories of people logging in at one min past and being kicked out of the system as it was so back logged.

how does the seating work out then? im going to penn all by myself, so hopefully i dont have to sit by myself lol

There are is a jr/sr area (closer to the field) and a fresh/soph area (further back). The seats aren't all that bad.

You sit wherever in those sections, so you would sit with your friends that you would make on campus. (It happens quickly).

The season "tickets" they sent were more like vouchers. You get in line on game day with your friends and they assign the seats as you enter the stadium. I think you can "block" tickets ahead of time by turning in the vouchers and getting assigned seats together, but these may not be the best seats. You may have read about Paternoville: These students camp out the week of the game to be among the first in line and get the best seats.

they "assign" seats but these are rarely kept. As long as you are in your class section then the security guards will not care.

thanks, makes me feel a little better :)
