So I heard that there is a very low chance that you will get accepted to the secondary school. So when u get rejected from 1st choice, they usually don't even look at your 2nd choice at all. Is that true?

A lot of people just copy and paste their essays for their primary choice onto the alternate supplemental essay. That doesn't show a single bit of sincerity. On the FAQ section, it says that it is possible that both the primary and alternate colleges read BOTH of your essays. Be sincere.

Why would they do that? The prompts are all different; they each ask why that specific school is appropriate..

Yea, but i want to know if its true that they don't really look at your 2nd choice?

The decision to read the application for your secondary choice is at the discretion of the alternate college. So....the primary college will forward your application along...but since the decision to read the app for your secondary school is at the discretion of the adcom...it may or may not be read. A CALS adcom member told me they read very few secondary applications....and the students they chose were highly qualified.

OK. I heard that about 1% of applicants get their apps forwarded along. and only 2% of those get accepted. The chances are low but why not? just make sure your second one isn't like "this is my dream school" while you said that for the first one. My advice is to make your alternate essay build on the primary essay, so the primary school's admissions officers know more about you.
