Hello, so I applied to the University of Central Florida for Summer as a transfer student from a state college and my application is being deferred until my final transcript is sent(in about two weeks). I am taking 6 classes and might need an Incomplete for one elective because I have PTSD and was going through a therapy that interfered with school. I will most likely be finishing with three A’s, one B and one C plus the Incomplete. I currently have a 3.25 gpa.
The point of the Incomplete would be to get a B or an A with extended time. Does anyone know if having an Incomplete on my transcript will negatively affect my chances of admission this last minute versus a C?
From my experience with transcripts and taking with admissions professionals, I recommend that you get the C. Honestly, the point of the essay should either highlight your activities or explain mistakes on transcripts. If you had to apply and write an essay, explain the incomplete/C. That is the most important part. Otherwise, the incomplete does not look good. Hope this helps!
@collegesearcherz Thanks for your input! Unfortunately, there was no essay portion in the application because I’m a lower level transfer applicant. I think I’m going to write an email to the admissions officers and see if that helps. And hopefully, I can get the grades in for my Creative Writing class before the transcript is sent.
