Chances of getting admitted to the University of Toronto

I’m planning on applying to the MasterCard foundation program at the University of Toronto class of 2022. I’m considering Engineering Physics or Physics major, the problem is where I live high school education is 11 years only, thus most schools offer only 11 years of education including all the international school but three or four across the country. And even though I studied in an international school we only sat for our IGCSEs before we graduated high school. However to compensate I attended some college preparatory courses at a local university and a few more that went further in depth in fields of engineering. I did 7 subjects in my IGCSEs and scored straight A/A* but one B, I also attended a total of 10 courses at the university in which I scored straight A/A*s. These courses include calculus, differential equations, physics, chemistry, statics, dynamics, electrical circuits, one programming language and material sciences. I’m planning on applying as a first year student and so I’m not sure whether to include all the courses I covered at the university, I was only planning on using them to prove academic strength and not for credits. I wanted to know the chances of me getting accepted into both engineering physics and physics program at the university of Toronto also whether to submit all the courses I covered or not. Also I’m not sure whether or not I meet their academic criteria since my application materials aren’t very typical.

Physics is in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Engineering Physics is part of the Engineering Science division in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. You can apply to both faculties. For physics, you would apply to the math and physical sciences program in the Faculty of Arts and Science. For engineering physics, you would apply to Engineering Science in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. Arts and Science and Applied Science are two separate applications. OUAC handles all applications for Ontario universities. Admissions to engineering is significantly harder than admissions to math and physical sciences.

Your education situation is unique. Look up the admission requirements for your country here: http://future.utoronto.ca/apply/requirements/international-high-school-secondary-university-or-college-post-secondary#BPE

If you still have questions, you can email admissions through this page: http://utoronto.askadmissions.net/ask.aspx

The admission requirements for my country is basically a complete first year at a recognizable university, and the one I took my classes in is one of the best here and though it isn’t exactly a complete first year I’ve done more courses than those of first year students, even harder ones. The problem is my high school education wasn’t following my countries certificate, I sat for my Canbridge IGCSEs. I tried emailing them but I’m still wait on their reply.

Also would applying earlier, perhaps as soon as September/ early October max mean any better chances at getting accepted. And would these grades, considering they approved of make me a competitive student for their Engineering Physics program?

It’s a holiday weekend and it’s the time of year (July) when most of the admissions office will start to take vacations. I would count yourself lucky if you got a response in the next 7 days. Applying in September/October won’t improve your chance her applying in November.

Explains, but yeah thank you

I think that you need to talk to admissions at the University of Toronto. When I chatted with them a few years back (about an entirely different issue) they were very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

@DadTwoGirls I tried emailing them, I’ll wait for a few more days and case I don’t get a reply by then I’ll fall them. Thanks
