planning on applying to UT and am wondering what my chances are as an OOS applicant. I have a current SAT of 1960, but am taking it one last time to improve my score. I’m on the soccer and tennis team. Am very big with the music program at my school. NHS member. Band VP. I’ll have seven APs by the time I graduate. Top 4% at my school. I also own my own non profit that raises money for Alzheimer’s research. Also I checked as my first choice major as Computer Science, second as Political Communications. Should I flip those two to better my chances of getting in?

Your SAT may be a tad low for OOS. But it isn’t that far off so I don’t think that is a big deal. Your rank is great. They used to publish SAT by college, but they have taken that down. CS was one of the higher ones if I recall correctly. CS is very competitive. Yes, changing to communications will help your chances, but what do you really want to major in?
Well my dream job would be to end up working for Google one day, so computer science is what I wanted to major in. However, political communication is something that really interests me, and with it I could go into law. I feel if I switch the two I could possibly switch them over once I actually got in. And I’m going to take the SAT one more time and that should give me the boost that I need.
