Chances of Getting in to Bowdoin ED I

Hi! I am a current high school senior and I am applying to Bowdoin ED I. I am just wondering what my chances are of admission into Bowdoin.

GPA: 4.0 UW. School doesn’t rank.

ACT: 35 composite. 33 english, 35 math, 36 reading, 35 science. 10/12 on essay

No SAT subject tests

Course Load:
My school is pretty small and doesn’t offer APs. We do, however, offer honors classes. I try to take every honors course available.
When I graduate, I will have completed:
3 years of Spanish (to Spanish 3)
4 years of math up to calculus. one semester of honors in precalc
4 years of a science. 3 years of a lab science
4 years of history, 5 semesters of which were honors history
4 years of english. 2 years of honors english and taking advanced english senior year
A class in computer science during the summer session of college

Extracurriculars:
Theatre - I have led the backstage department of my school’s theatre for 3 years now, since sophomore year. (10, 11, 12)
Computer Science - incorporated a startup with a group of friends sophomore year. Worked as a paid intern at a software company for the two past summers. (9, 10, 11, 12)
Student Government - I run a group that raises money for underprivileged students to go on school trips. I also am a student ambassador (meaning I work in my high school’s admissions office). (9, 11, 12)
Cross Country - I have been on varsity cross country for 3 years. Captain of the varsity team my senior year. (10, 11, 12)
Activism - Founded a student activist group with friends and raised 1.1K for Planned Parenthood in a single bake sale. Won a scholarship to a conference on political activist groups. (11, 12)
Skiing - Skied in a backcountry ski team from age 7 to sophomore year. Won two awards for strength in character(9, 10)

Awards:
Won the Harvard Book Award junior year

You obviously are a great student, but remember the cutting room floor at all elite colleges is full of students with near perfect stats and interesting ECs. Are you URM, from Nebreska, recruited athlete? Good Luck! They’s be lucky to have you.

You look like a strong candidate, but as PreppedParent implies, even great candidates can get denied at this level. ED is a good idea, but have 5-6 backup elite LACs at the ready for regular decision just in case. I do sense that sometimes finanical need does matter, so schools with a lot of funding like Bowdoin are going to be a better bet than a school that’s lower in the ranking but less well-off, like Kenyon.

I just noticed this thread and wondered if OP had an update on the results. Their profile is similar to my daughter’s - except slightly better in almost every way. :slight_smile: If OP didn’t get in, that will tell me a lot about my daughter’s chances.
