what do u think guys?
do i stand a chance of gettin in?
im awaiting my score for SAT2 and TOEFL, but i got 1230 in my SAT1.
(keep in mind that bates doesnot require SATs. and that SATs are only one part of the application.

looks like ur ECs are really nice. pretty special i must say. ur SAT is VERY low. lower than the 25% mark, I dont think that'l get u far at all. Get it up to 1500, and there u uare. at at the threshold of an ivy no doubt. drop by in the forums for specific unis, and then ul be able to know more about ur chances. ul see what competition u are up to. also check out the international thread...and the indian post there. we are a bunch of helpful people ;)

I was talking about the annual anthology they produce every year, only the best are chosen. poetry.com is not a scam. everyone knows about it. when it comes to poetry competitions, poetry.com is common.

hey im from Aitchison college too
i did my 2nd-5th grades over there before coming to the US
you have a solid chance with ur ECs but SAT is very low for Yale

Guys I Know My Sat Is A Bit Low For Yale , But Dont U Think That My Exeptional Internal Academic Record(my Counselor Says So), Will Make Up For It.??
Also Yale Website Says It Too That High Internal Record Will Probably Make Up For An Average Sat Score!!! Also Even Harvard Admits Students With Sats In The Range As Low As 1100. Although They Are Only 4%..
Hannanaq In Which Uni Are U??

To be honest I dont think you stand a chance at Yale. Your school seems to be a good one and I am sure that there will be more people from your school, community and country who would have equally good 'internal acadmeic record' and a better sat score. Also how rare are the academic honours that you have mentioned? I mean generally how many students get college blazer, fall on principles list n 5 A's etc? International students generally do not perform so well in the verbal section of SAT but since you are a poet and a writer, one expects your verbal score to be competetive as well.

i dont go to a university yet
im in a private high school in tennessee and im in 10th grade right now
im hoping to land in a good private college and i might apply to a few ivies if i feel confident my SATs are really good
good luck at Yale, i know that every year there are atleast 3 people from Aitchison that make it into Harvard or Yale and most admission officers know about how good of a school Aitchison is so u have a good chance

Five years ago I would say you had a chance, but these days its so competitive that I would say no to Yale and most Ivies. I personally know people in your shoes, they always seem to get waitlisted then rejected. Sorry.

I did this a few years ago. I hate to say it, but I think it is a scam as well. Being published and not paid is often a sign that it's not as legit as it should be. And I believe that on the actual website, any poem submitted is published.
