Chances of getting in?

I am a domestic student from East Peoria, IL (Not sure if location is a factor?). Our high school is relatively underperforming (We have only 1 AP class, a few dual credit classes). I'm currently 5th in my class, and due to our lack of challenging classes, I have around 30 credit hours at our local community college (This year I'm taking Calc 3 and Diff. EQ. for dual math credit). My ACT score is 36, and I have taken 3 SAT subject tests (Chemistry -780, US History -800, Math 2 -800) and I have a 3.92 GPA. In regards to extracurricular activities, I am President of our local HS Democrats chapter, and chairman of the Illinois State High School Democrats. I am currently captain of our scholastic bowl team, and participate in marching band, symphonic band (I was selected to be on the IMEA State Band), and jazz band. This summer, I also interned on the Cheri Bustos for Congress Campaign and participated in the Economics for Leaders Program. I am very interested in economics and politics, and was selected to be on the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council for my Senior year. Other achievements include 2nd place at the local Chemistry Olympiad, and 3 years of 1st place solos in Piano and Euphonium at the local Solo and Ensemble Contest.

I plan to apply within the next couple weeks, though I am worried that my high school's poor academic record will negatively affect my chances. What do you think my chances are?

Very solid, depending on how your recommendations and essays go. Hope you can find recommenders who will take the time and effort to really stand up for you. Then on the essays, I’ll say what I always say which is to be original and honest, but take the time to revise and edit, and show the essays to a trusted adviser for honest and helpful feedback. Best of luck to you.
