class rank is top 30% not sure of exact numbers. but i come from a school where we have about 700 per grade

ACT at median
SAT in bottom 25%
GPA weak
Class Rank low (54% in top tenth; 91% in top quarter) unless your school is considered highly competitive by Ohio State admissions.

Off the cuff, I’d say you’d be a weak admit/waitlist.

Well while your GPA is not the greatest it definitely sounds like you are pretty involved and while most of their decision of admittance comes from grades and test scores that just might help to your advantage. I know my situation is different (transfer student from out of state) I got in with an act score of 22 and a GPA of just 2.9. Although I did do Running start my final year if highschool (Running Start is a program where I attended college full time getting HS credit to graduate and year of free college.). Essentially what I’m trying to say is that my grades were no better than yours but I still got accepted by some stroke of luck. Maybe you’ll get lucky but I do know that OSU has been getting more and more selective lately.

Maybe if you are from a part of the state that OSU finds underrepresented you might have a better chance. My son’s friend from Cleveland had better stats/ECs and did not get in. If you’re determined to go to go to the OSU main campus and are rejected, then I would suggest going to a community college or a regional college like Cleveland State for one term and then transferring in. Other kids go to a regional campus of OSU like Mansfield and then transfer to the main campus but this might take a bit longer.

I was surprised when I got wait-listed by Ohio State and had to wait until April to get in. I also got rejections from places I never expected to be rejected from. So, don’t give up if that happens to you, too.

Take the essay seriously and just do your best.
