I got an 1170 and 1130 on my sats and a 23 on my act. I’m overall a good student with a high 94 gpa and I try to push myself I just don’t like taking standardized tests. Do you think the test will effect me?
It depends on which schools you are interested in. If you look at the common data set for Binghamton, Only 12% of students got in with a SAT math score between 500 and 599. At SUNY Buffalo, 38% got in with the same score. I would start by researching which schools have the majors you want, and then look up what students they have admitted in the past to get an idea of how good your chances are at that school. I feel pretty confident that you can find some good options in New York. As an alternative, Ithaca College is test optional, and there may be other test optional schools in New York as well. Congrats on your nice GPA.
Seconding Ithaca, as well as Hobart-and-WilliamSmith. Both are test optional. If your curriculum is mostly honors and AP you have a shot.
Buffalo is a possible reach, as is Albany.
Look into SUNY Oswego, Cortland, Oneonta depending on your major for matches, perhaps Siena and St Bonaventure. Plattsburg for a safety.
I’d add St. Lawrence to the above test-optional suggestions.
SUNY Buffalo is a good one for a public school. The GPA will be good for getting accepted depending on difficulty of classes you took. Your SAT score is slightly above average so I assume your grades are not inflated much.
You are a good fit for Alfred University. Your stats are the same as my son’s were, and he was accepted there - Fall 2017 (and is very happy there, too)
Also, Clarkson University…
Look at suny.edu. This site will give you ranges of GPA’s and test scores for every SUNY school. You can also search under major, to see which schools offer the program/s you are interested in. I find SUNY.edu easier to use than common data sets since you can see all of the schools together.
