Hi, i am a junior that has been motivated to succeed in life. My gpa from freshmen year was a 2.6, and i raised it up to a 3.3 now. By the end of junoir year, i plan to raise it to 3.6 or 3.7. I really want to get into a good college and make my mom happy. I did track for sophmore year, and planning to do it again this year and senoir year. i have not took the SAT test yet, but planning to in the spring. i am really worried i will go to a bad school.

First of all, congrats on the upward trend in your grades, and I wish you continued success.
Second of all, there are few truly “bad” schools…sure, they may not all be Ivies (and even the Ivies may not be right for even people with a 2400 SAT), but terrific schools with great academics, a wonderful social life, and dedicated professors abound. I bet a 3.6, or 3.7 GPA would open the door for you for a lot of great schools.
Couple of suggestions: continue with track (many schools love scholar-athletes). Involve yourself with clubs at school, or get a job, or volunteer. Consider taking an ACT or SAT prep class, or if that’s too expensive, buy a test-prep book and do self-study.
Best wishes!

Thank you i really appreciate for the reply. I am aiming for around 1800 on my SAT and i plan to volunteer right after track season. After i finish volunteering, i plan to find a job. I really want to make my time in school worth it. I dont want to waste my life ! I also bought the SAT book to study every weekend. thanks again !

aim higher on the sat. its often a way to show universities that your gpa isnt reflective of your academic talents.
