So I’m a sophomore in high school right now. In my freshman year I pretty much did bad I believe 3 C’s and other grades above that. Right now I’ve been on track and have received distinguished honor roll for all of the 4 marking periods but I’m only In academic classes but next year my counselor took chances and put me in two AP classes and the rest of my classes will be accelerated but I plan to change some into honors. If I succeed in those classes and ace the sat and act, would I have a chance in an Ivy League? And let’s say UPenn because I live close to UPenn and it’s one of my dream schools.
I mean possibly. Most students don’t have great chances at these schools. A lot also depends on what the rest of your application is like. If your questions is whether 3 C’s in your freshman year will be disqualifying, the answer is no. Also, you should be a bit more confident. Embrace the challenge of AP classes. If you think you are Penn-worthy, then you should certainly think that your are AP-worthy.
