Hey guys, I just finished my freshman year. I got a B in Honors College Algebra, and a B+ in Honors American Studies. I know my chances aren’t non-existent to get into Penn, but I also know they got slimmer. Are my chances of getting into Penn early decision effected a lot?
I wouldn’t say it’s a dealbreaker. Colleges like to see an upwards trend in grades as well. Plus, if your hs is especially competitive or tough, colleges will take that into account. Just make sure you do well the next 3 years.
You’re a sophomore. You have no chances right now, since presumably you haven’t done 2/3 of the things upon which you will be judged when you apply for college. Why laser-focus on a particular school when you’re two years out from applying and three from attending?
As long as you keep your grades up in the next two years(All A’s with a couple B+) you will be competitive in terms of your GPA. As a rising sophomore you have a lot of time to prepare for college admissions. I wish i started as early as you. I’d say prep and try to get a 33+ on the ACT or 1480/1600 on the SAT. Also, make sure to be involved in extracurriculars that align with your intended major. This shows you have a true passion. Write great essays( The why penn essay is key). I hope this helped. Good luck!

And thank you!
