Chances of getting into Choate/Phillips Andover/Deerfield? Help please.

I am a 10th grade student living in India. I’ve applied for Choate, Phillips Andover and Deerfield Academy. I got a fee wavier from Andover to give my SSAT test and I’m applying for Financial Aid.
I’ve got 85% in my SSAT.
I have an average 3.6-4 GPA.
I am a good painter and have a couple of my paintings on display in my school’s gallery plus I also have some awards for it.
I am also a singer and have been in the school choir for the last 3 years
I have also played a few minor roles in plays at my school.
There is not much you can do in India like APs and extra course you have to stick strictly to what is taught in the class.
I can speak 3 languages fluently English,Hindi and Bengali.
I can also read and write Sanskrit as I have been learning I have been learning It for the last 4 years.
Should I also send pictures of my paintings to them.
What kind of students are these school looking for specifically and how can I write my essays according to that.

Your stats are just a bit shaky, but you look competitive. I don’t know how being an international student will affect you, though.

I agree with KingBibi. Your ec’s are good and so is your gpa, but the ssat needs to be raised especially because you are applying for 11th grade(or possibly repeat tenth grader but either way it’s really hard). Don’t worry, I’ve struggeld with it too:) Hang in there!

If you don’t need financial aid, you can definitely get into Choate. PA and Deerfield are more old school and you really need to have something they need like be an oboe player, recruited athlete, or legacy with a long line of contributors or have something else extremely special. Did you interview at PA and Deerfield? How did it go?

Schools are looking for genuinely kind, smart, motivated students. However, I encourage you to write the way you do! Your essays should represent you, not what you think an admitted student is like, because everyone in the elite prep schools you’re applying for are unique, and so are you! So let them be personal, heartfelt, professional and, you! I think your SSAT puts you on target for Choate, but it’s slightly low for PA and Deerfield. I believe that PA will accept February’s SSAT. To be honest, with you applying for 11th grade, with FA and as an international student, your chances are pretty low. Flaunt your awards and achievements. I definitely encourage you to submit art portfolios as well to your schools. Good luck!

That’s the second time recently that someone on this forum is being advised by peers to “flaunt” their strengths or advantages. FWIW, flaunting has a negative meaning (as in show off, brag about, parade, or crow about), so it’s never a good idea. You may highlight, emphasize, stress, underscore, draw attention to, point, or show your strengths, but please don’t flaunt them. I hope this helps.

So is there very little chance for me? I still haven’t goven my interviews and filled the application. Can these effect my chances please advice me how I can have a better chance.

Wait a sec, I believe Choate and Deerfield apps are due in a week and it sounds like you have yet to complete your applications and do your interviews? Hopefully the apps are close to done and the interviews are scheduled. I think action is required so don’t wait to get advice. Yes, I think you should submit an art portfolio but I’m not sure how that works. I believe some schools provide specific instructions.

^ Choate apps are due tomorrow  ? You were also supposed to say if you required an off campus of on campus interview in your inquiry, but just give them a call and they’ll change it for you. Definitely try hard to get an interview because those help the schools a lot in getting to know you better and determining if you’re going to get admitted or not.

Some schools continue interviewing for a few weeks after applications are do. My school continues to interview through the end of January but applications are due in just a few days. Then they begin looking through files in February.

My apps are close to complete all I have to do is fill in the essays please help me you guys know my circumstances what should I do with my essays that help me.pls

I mean what kinds of essays can helpy situation

Perhaps it’s obvious, but you need to follow the prompts that are given. My kid’s approach last year was to write about things that weren’t otherwise well covered in the application like a more obscure EC, and stayed away from what was already well documented like my kid’s primary sport. Everything was quite personal and I think overall helped fill in details about who my kid is and what makes the kid tick as an individual.

One other recollection: some prompts lend themselves (or ask outright) to explain why you are a good match for that school because of who you are and what you are looking for in your school experience.

The thing is I am so stressed and harried that I don’t know how to go about writing about myself please help tips

basically, if you ever mention an experience you had, dont just talk about what happened, but more about how it affected you. Also, dont talk too much about things you would have already put down in the rest of your application. (achievements and awards, etc) Try to stay positive when talking about negative aspects of your life or personality, or you could turn a negative trait into a positive one (somehow).
You have to find the perfect balance of humble and “presenting yourself”, if you get what i mean.

Guys I had an interview with Deerfield over skype today and I feel it was good and then the interviewer sent me a thank you email. Do they send these emails to everyone or does it mean something?

Usually it means something(you did very well!) I got the same thing from Middlesex

So does this mean I have a chance at getting in.

Shouvik- you were qualified in the first place  I think the interviewer’s send emails to everyone  so you might not want to rely on that to get you in. Anyway, good job on the successful interview!
