Your SAT and Subject Test scores are very, very low for Columbia. Your extra curricular activities aren’t very impressive either. GPA is relative to the rest of your school.

I would look to find schools that are better matches for you. Columbia is a pretty big reach school in your situation.

SATs don’t look too good. A 2100-2200+ will give you a better chance than anything below it. Your GPA is also not the most impressive, and neither is your EC. Your ECs should be things you are passionate about, and quality is always better than quantity. From the looks of it, you don’t seem to hold any leadership positions in your ECs nor have you listed anything you’ve done major in them.

Thanks for all the responses. I won’t give up. I’m currently working to bring my score up. Not much I can do about my GPA at this point though. Would my ACT score be good enough for Columbia?

I am also going to start shadowing a doctor this summer (because I want to be a doctor). I was wondering whether that would be a good addition to my ECs.

You should certainly include the fact that you are showing a doctor during the summer. You also have to remember that there are plenty of kids that have amazing ACT AND SAT scores, so your ACT score alone may not be " good enough." My best advice for you is to retake the SAT, prepare well in advance, and try your best to boost it up. Good luck! :)

you want to get that ACT to a 34-35 to be competitve with your GPA. Anyway there PLENTY of colleges who would be interested in you including top 50 schools so don’t worry about it.
