Chances of getting into Columbia?

I understand no one can give me accurate chances of getting into CU, but I would just like to know whether I'm as qualified as other students who will be applying or if I even have a chance. I will be a first generation college student. My parents are refugees who immigrated to the US from Central Asia, bringing me and my siblings along with them. I am currently going into my junior year. I play varsity football and run varsity track & field. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA to this point (weighted is around 4.7 but I doubt that matters). I visited Columbia this summer and fell in love even more. I haven't taken the ACT/SAT yet but my projected scores, respectively, were 32-34 and 2200-2400 based on practice tests. This upcoming year, I will be the president of my chapter for DECA, and I will also be running for state office. I qualified for nationals in Atlanta, GA my sophomore year in DECA. My senior year, I hope to run for national office. along with DECA, I also participate in STUCO, French Club, and as I previously mentioned, my two sports which take up a lot of time. Next summer, I also plan to volunteer abroad in Kenya. I currently volunteer at a local children's museum.

Like I wrote previously, I would like to know how qualified I am, and what more can I do to improve my chances of getting into Columbia? Any insight is appreciated. Thank you.

You are definitely qualified but no predictions until you take the SAT/ACT. Good Luck and keep up the good work

You’re a strong candidate, certainly. Important factors that will help or deter you are SAT/ACT scores, course load, and ESSAYS. I would also suggest getting a job, or some type of internship… And you need to figure out that “thing” that sets you apart from everyone else. It doesn’t mean you have to find your life’s passion–just something that you’re going to focus tightly on for your next two years of high school. Good luck!
