Chances of getting into Loyola Marymount with a 3.4 gpa and no AP classes for class of 2022

Can I get into Loyola marymount with a 3.4 gpa and no AP classes. If possible, what can I do for my senior year of high school to increase my chances.

Make sure you can afford it. It is expensive.

From their website:

Every year, LMU receives applications from thousands of bright, talented, and ambitious high school seniors. While a student’s academic record is the primary factor for consideration, we realize that student ability and potential can be demonstrated in many different ways. Some of the additional factors that we look at are:

** Writing ability*
** Artistic and athletic accomplishments*
** Work or service-related endeavors*
** Co-curricular activities and achievements*
** Recommendations*
** National SAT/ACT test scores (test optional for fall 2021 through 2022)*
** Relationship to the University*

There is no minimum GPA or test score required for admission to LMU, but admission is selective. We look at each candidate’s application for indications of academic achievement, preparation, and potential.

In addition to academic accomplishments, we are looking for well-rounded students who demonstrate the potential and willingness to become contributing members of our community. If that sounds like you, then we look forward to your application!

Average GPA: 3.65 out of 4.0
35.7% enrolled students had a 4.0 GPA.
GPA very important and HS course rigor important.

There’s only one way to find out - but make sure have back ups.

What can you do? Does your school offer AP classes? If they do and you didn’t take any, it will be held against you. If they do, can you take one?

I’d say your odds aren’t great - per the website, the avg. was a 3.9. Do you have a test score? If good, that could help you.

Applying early can help you - but do you want to pay full freight?

You can find suitable subs that are easier to get into. I say apply - but who else is on your list??

It’s hard to say. LMU offers a really wide range of majors, so difficulty of admission will likely be dependent on what you’re applying for. Engineering and Computer Science will probably be the most competitive. Others will vary. Drama, Film, Music, and Art might have their own unique qualifications.

If your guidance counselor is familiar with LMU, s/he will have the best information. A visit/tour of the campus with info session plus possible interview will give you access to additional information.

probably not but, it is worth a shot.

Assuming you are a CA resident also apply to several CSUs - Most majors at Sonoma, Chico and Fullerton are going to be open to you.

Apply broadly and good luck
