Please help me decide which aspects about me I should include or not. And also, bring me back down to earth and tell me flat out whether you think I can make it into the schools I want to.
Also, my reach schools are:
Georgetown (dream school)
Upenn
Target school:
Georgetown (again LOL)
Boston college
McGill university
NYU
Any of the UCs
Safety:
University of arizona
What’s your weighted GPA? Are you a CA resident?
Gtown can’t be both a reach and target school, I’d say it’s a reach. UCB, UCI, and UCLA would all be reaches if you’re OOS.
What is your college budget?
Only 3 of the UC’s have Business schools (UC Riverside, UC Irvine and UC Berkeley). None of the UC’s offer Finance as a major. You would be applying for Business Admin, Business Econ, Managerial Econ, Econ and Accounting as examples.
As stated in post #1, UCLA/UCB/UCI and UCSD would be Reach schools for business related majors. UCD/UCSB are probably Target schools.
If you are OOS, the UC costs are currently $65K/year to attend with little to no financial aid so assume full pay. If you are CA resident, then they are affordable and FA can be generous if you qualify.
I’m out of state for everything except uoa. Honestly, I’m not really that interested in the UCs since they’re west coast and I loooooove the cold but what do you think my chances are of getting into Georgetown??? Also, I come from a competitive private school and they don’t do weighted GPAs as they don’t do APS just courses that are AP but aren’t explicitly called AP if that makes any sense LOL
Tuition isn’t really an issue even though I’m out of state for all of the colleges listed except for uoa. Also, after hearing that I am really not interested in the UCs at all because I’m just not interested in living in California and now I hear they don’t offer finance as a major LOL. However, I was still wondering, do I have a good chance of getting into Georgetown??? I also come from a competitive private school if that helps.
Penn - 10%
Georgetown - 15%
BC - 30%
NYU - 38% but lower for Stern Business
Arizona - 98%
McGill - ???
McGill would be close to a safety. They admit by stats only. Your UWGPA is above the minmimum of 3.7 and your ACT is above the minimum of 31, but just barely.
Would you consider UWi-Madison? UMichigan-Ann Arbor? IndianaU? Ohio State?
Just throwing out some of the cooler weather options that still have decent finance schools perhaps for more targets.
I think any of the things you have listed as EC’s could be spun in a positive way. Typically it isnt about just the EC itself but how you market the activity and what its done for you and how it shows you can be successful in the future.
