Chances of getting into Naval Academy

I am an African American female in my Junior year of high school.

Extracurricular Activities/Clubs:
*President of Art Club
*Secretary of Asian Culture Club
*Member of NHS
*Member of instrumental ensemble
*I have been studying Japanese for three years and am at an intermediate level. I’m aiming to be fluent by H.S graduation. I know a lot about Japanese culture and history.
*I’ve interned at a college as an assistant translator for Japanese students visiting from Tokyo.
*I’ve also participated in two Continuing Education art classes (Watercolor and Anatomy) as well as various other art classes for nearly five years.

Academics:
*I took all honors classes Freshmen and Sophomore year
*This year I am taking A.P English and A.P U.S History. My other classes are honors except for physics (there is no honors class offered in physics). I expect to get into A.P Euro next year.
*My average is a 94.4. Not sure what GPA this is, so if anyone has an idea, I’d be grateful to hear it.
*I’m ranked 7 out of 58
*PSAT SCORE: 177, 99th Percentile for both Critical Reading and Writing Skills
*I’ve had zero absences or latenesses since I began H.S
*For the first semester of this year my grades are:
ENGLISH: A+
HISTORY: A
ALGEBRA 2/TRIG: B
PHYSICS: C (I’m going to make this a B by the end of the year, and hopefully get a B average)
LATIN: B+
FRENCH: A+
I’ve had solid, high As for the past two years in history and english, and Bs in sciences and math (except in Freshmen year I got an A in Biology).
So I’m pretty average in math/science but I excel in history and english.

Personal:
*I haven’t joined a sport team because of issues with time, but I could try to fit one in next year, since sports seem to be a major part of USNA. Even so, I am physically active. I exercise for forty minutes, five days a week. I do Julian Michaels Metabolism Boost Workout, and if you guys watch TBL you know she doesn’t play around.
*By the way, I’ve also applied for the USNA Summer Seminar.
*I’m a polite, hard-working person and I can cope with pretty much anything. . I’m flexible and disciplined and know how to manage my time. I’m also a good speaker and can manage and lead a team. Extremely organized. I’ve researched for months and I know about the hardships and challenges at the USNA. Whatever happens, I’ll deal with it.

Feedback?

**I’m currently in the process of getting a congressional letter

Hi Tatsumi100!

I am also considering going to the Naval Academy.

I recommend you try and get those Math and Science grades up as much as possible because the Naval Academy is a STEM(Science Technology Engineering Math) school.

I suggest you go on the USNA website and take a look at the Class Portrait if you haven’t already. It will give you helpful insight in what USNA looks for in an applicant.

Finally, I suggest you invest in a couple USNA books. Many of these books are written by academy grads or former members of the admissions board.

Well I wish you luck on your journey to USNA!
