I am an African American Female. I recently took the ISEE and got a 4 on verbal,4 on quantitive ,7 on reading comprehension, and a 4 on mathematics achievement.I did VERY well on my interviews and the lowest grade I have received is an 89. I am hoping to get into Spence, Sacred Heart, and Brearley do you think I could get in? Also my teacher recommendations seem to be very good from what I have heard?
I have also been in off Broadway shows and am very passionate about the arts
Those are all very academically minded schools. It may not help you to promote being on Broadway, as those schools do look favorably on missing school for outside activities.
^^ meant those schools do not look favorably on missing school F&M outside activities
You sound like a great candidate but your test scores are a little low for Spence / Brearley. Most top NYC schools don’t want to see scores lower than 6, maybe 5. Have you taken the SSAT? Do you need FA? That could be a factor as well.
I do need financial aid do I have a better chance at sacred heart
Sacred Heart is slightly less competitive so you may have a better chance there, but I’m not sure about FA. Your extracurriculars sound great, you have good grades & recommendations, you’re URM, and you said that your interviews went well. So, you have a lot going for you but I do think that the scores will hurt you. Have you applied to other schools (Chapin, Marymount, Nightingale, Hewitt)? Do you have a school counselor who is helping with this process?
