The money you’d save with a full ride can be put towards grad school, or savings. It is such a spectacular opportunity you have placed in front of you. I hope Stanford gives you an equally impressive offer.
Any idea if you think Berkely will accept me? My gut said no, just because of my SAT. And they never asked me for supplemental information like UCLA did…
Waitlisted at Berkeley! They have a very generous acceptance from waitlist!
@sravrgs gs I have to say that you are a super positive person!
Why do you say that? @CU123 because I am optimistic about Berkeley? I feel like i have every realistic reson to be! My friend at Berk said that the waitlist is v generous- also Berk said itself that its waitlist acceptance is anywhere between 20%-60%!! Which id say is pretty high. Additionally, UCLA accepted me AFTER requesting and getting 2 600 word essays for more info- which Berk never requested, but i can now send!! also thank you, i try to be v positive about everything, but i stil have no been accepted to my #1 choice school, so i feel like that decsion could really bring me down… its today!
Most people are disappointed with waitlists, so I just wanted to note that you are not, and that is a good thing. Positive thinking is always an advantage, I hope you are celebrating your last acceptance today.
If I were the OP, I would take the Chicago acceptance. Better academic support than the UCs.
Rejected from Stanford! But it is okay!! I will apply as a transfer student if I still feel like it is the place for me, and I can go to Stanford for Graduate school! UChicago is a better fit because I don’t know what I want to study, and I need a big city to launch my ideas for the future-I’m so excited! Haha I could not have made the decision between Stanford and Uchicago, it would have been too hard. Mostly because I value Uchicagos thirst and excitement for ideas- Stanford literally does not compare! Plus after my writing Essays for Uchicago, I feel very connected to the school. I’m feeling super blessed
I just wanted to say congratulations. I have been reading the entire thread, and your entire story. And remember, its not that one SAT score that factored into your acceptance, but your strong grades, and compelling life story!
You should make a youtube channel or instagram/facebook about your college journey. I feel like it would be extremely compelling, you seem like such a lovely, positive, driven person!
Sorry to hear about Stanford. But UChicago is a wonderful place and it sounds like they would love to have you. Suggest you check out the revisit days in April, it will give you a good feel of what life is like in Chicago. You have an incredible opportunity in front of you that many many students would love to be in your shoes.
I think Stanford for grad school is a good idea. Congrats! Enjoy Chicago!
Yup, you were filtered out by Stanford, I think.
Your profile was a match for UChicago TO, so you were lucky. I’m thinking other elites would have acted more like Stanford, than UChicago too… Even UCLA’s, though an acceptance, was a bit bland… considering that they know that you will need huge financial support, but did not offer it. (or maybe they made theire best effort but due to budget issues…)
Good luck on UChicago. Dont look back. And if you are planning for grad school, make sure to test high on the LSTA/GMAT/GRE because getting those numbers up will be even more important. There are no “test optional” elite grad schools.
Congratulations.
I agree you most likely got a brief look from an Stanford AO and that was it. Sometimes they just look at the score/GPA combo and then skim the rest of the app based on that. Without a thorough read your story really can’t come through.
UCs do not offer FA to out of state students, except for uncommon merit scholarships.
@ucbalumnus amazing how many times you have to say it. No one seems to know this until its too late.
What school in GR do you go to? I live in Caledonia and am just wondering what school you went to to get those classes and opportunities, etc.
