Chances of getting into UCF, USF (University of South Florida) and FSU

Im an IN- STATE high school junior going into my senior year of High school.
Unweighted GPA- 3.4
Weighted GPA- 3.8
Academic GPA- 3.5

ACT- 19 (Im afraid that this is what is going to hold me back from getting accepted) Im taking it again on September with the hopes of getting a higher score.

I have taken 5 honor courses but will be taking about 4 or 5 more my senior year
Im involved in a lot of clubs and i have 250+ Community service hours
What do you guys think? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

bottom 25 percentile:
usf-22
ucf-23
fsu-24
uf (best florida college) -25

so it appears your a reach at all of them. you could try the SAT i found that easier

Try taking the SAT.

If you score a 25+ on the ACT or a 1800+ on the SAT i would say you have a good chance at all of the schools.

Ha ha…this is a joke, right?

why would i joke? uf is cheaper, better academics, named public ivy, and way better sports teams. fsu is just for the uf rejects

I agree with you steelerfan2010…I sometimes think that UF admission decisions are kinda like a raffle…one of my friends got rejected with an amazing act score and amazing gpa…and my other friend who prety much ********ted her way thoughout high school got accepted…so in reality its kinda al about luck…i know of a lotttt of people in uf who shouldnt even be there

“Ha ha…this is a joke, right?”

Um, UF is by far the best college in florida. U Miami is expensive and over-rated. UF is also higher ranked then UMiami on the USNWR (though that matters little). And UF’s graduate programs are top-notch.

No, that was not a joke.

UF has some good areas, but certainly not all of them. It is a joke to suggest it…especially compared to Florida State.

At my school in So. Florida, the only people who go to Florida St. are the ones who get rejected from UF. I don’t know of one person who got accepted to both UF and FSU and went to FSU.
OP, try and raise that score another 5 points and you should be in at UCF and USF.

Thanks for the reply guys! i have another question though…somebody on here told me that in your application you can state whether u are re-taking any standerdized tests like the ACT or the SAT…i was hoping to apply in september since the earlier you apply the easier it is to get in but i have to retake the ACT on september and hope to get a higher score…which means i wont be able to apply until like october…but this person told me that…is this true? if so, i know that every college app is different but im almost done with my UCF application and nowhere on there does it say or asks u if your gonna be re-taking ACT or the SAT again…? so where exactly does it state this? if anybody on here knows please tell me. Thanks :)

I know one we used to tell when I was a student at Florida State:

Q: What do all FSU students have in common?
A: They all got into UF.

Oldie but a goodie. :D

^ Things have changed since you went to school. FSU is still a good college nonetheless.

They haven’t changed that much. Winning some football games can bring about the “Flutie Effect” to a certain extent, but any student thinking about FSU or UF needs to carefully look at the major and strengths of the university before they simply assume they have made the best choice. And…no one cares what you think you know about who gets in where and for what reason.

Consider: http://www.economist.com/blogs/freeexchange/2007/01/flutie_effect

^^lol I love when old people show some rage it’s shows that they still got it after all these years!
