Chances of getting into UCLA/Duke

<p>I'm currently a sophmore in a Massachusetts Prep School</p>

<p>I am Indian American, but I was born in the US</p>

I volunteered at the YMCA as a counselor over the summer
I volunteered 16 hours in an orphanage for disabled kids in India. </p>

<p>What are my chances of getting in and what do I need to improve? </p>

<p>I think your extracurriculars are a bit on the weak side so if you can think of anything (you still have a year and a half - you have time right?) or get into a few prestigious summer programs that’d help. However, as for your actual chances for these schools, it’s too hard to say without more information (specifically SAT/ACT scores). Duke takes a lot of students that score over 2200 so you should try to get at least that (as for UCLA, I’m not so sure about out of state admissions - it’s harder than in state though).</p>
