Chances of Getting Into UCLA

I would just like to know what are my chances of getting into UCLA
UC GPA-4.23
Unweighted GPA-3.92
SAT-1300

Major-Biochemistry

Extracurricular:
Varsity Basketball(9th,10th,11th,12th)
Varsity Tennis(11th,12th)
Mu Alpha Theta/Math Club(10th,11th,12th)
CSF(10th,11th,12th)

SAT is a little low for UCLA.

Are you being recruited for athletics?

No I am not however that was my first SAT I have taken the SAT recently and am expecting to improve on the score. What would be a reasonable SAT score in your opinion?

Get as close to perfect as possible.
UCLA gets more than 90K applications each year. Priority admission goes to California residents so your scores have to be almost perfect. Your grades have to be perfect and your EC’s have to be focused. Since you are a CA resident, you may get in; you never know unless you apply.

Anything bio-related is impacted. In other words, it is a very competitive major so once they run out of seats, they are done.

SAT too low, not enough related things to your major, not enough information about your academic rigor. Everyone can be varsity at sports and extracurriculars…

Reasonable score would be 1500 minimum. Sorry I didn’t include that in my last response. That’s already giving a lot of leeway, most people get automatic 800’s on the SAT for math because it’s so easy, and the reading should at least be over 700.

Lmao @misdream89 saying you need 1500 minimum. Their 75th percentile isn’t even 1500, so clearly you don’t need 1500 to get in.

He says his major is biochemistry… (although he may get in under 1500 for that), useful majors with a high ROI and can make money after, such as engineering and some STEM majors are more competitive. Impractical, liberal arts, or degrees that don’t make you money won’t be as competitive.

@mlsdream89 I’m not sure if you know but L&S admissions is to the whole college not admission by major. Everyone who applied to L&S gets admitted without a major. Engineering admits by major. And I can tell you a 1500 is not needed. Im a student engineering ambassador and for admissions there are plenty of non 1500 students getting in. That’s a 2250 average on the old sat. And don’t say it used to be more competitive in the past it wasn’t in fact UCLA has gotten more competitive as time as gone on. You’ve been on the UCLA threads saying false and quite frankly rather negative feedback to students. @Gumbymom has reputable posts you can learn from.

OP, just an FYI. Your application will reviewed as follows and yes GPA and test scores are very important, but all aspects of your application will be evaluated. No one person can say you need a specific test score or GPA to get an acceptance but looking at the data available such as the Freshman profile can help gauge your chances. There will always to outliers at each end of the spectrum. Here is some information about how UCLA review applications:::

  • Los Angeles

  • Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores
  • Important: Character/personal qualities, Extracurricular activities, Talent/ability, Volunteer work, Work experience
  • Considered: First generation college student, Geographical residence
  • Note: GPA, test scores, course work, number of and performance in honors and AP courses most important. Essay considered. Strong senior program important. Extracurricular activities, honors and awards also reviewed.
