I’m applying to both UF amd FSU in a few days so I’m just curious of my chances of getting in. Here are some of my numbers:
-3.40 unweighted GPA
-5.48 weighted GPA
-1240 SAT (Still have to take it 2 more times and hope to get at least a 1330+ after lots of practice. Still have to take the ACT 2 times.)
-6 AP classes; all other core classes are honors/ dual enrollment. 5-6 dual enrollment credits by the end of senior year.
-5 math credits, 7 science, 5.5 history/social science, 4.5 english
-Lots of extracurriculars including sports, community service, internships, leadership etc.
-Around 150 service hours.
-My application is really good and very professional. My essay is written really well. I had some help from my older cousin who is about to graduate from med school. So my main concern is if my application is really good and I get my SAT up, will I be able to get into UF or FSU?
If you raise your SAT I’m very sure you’ll be admitted
FSU is a bit easier to get into, but with some good extracurriculars, UF should be a match
Even with a 1240, you are still in the lane for FSU summer. It looks like your rigor and gpa are good. The test score is an issue for UF because the competition is so strong. My guess is 45,000 kids will apply this year and they will only Admit one third. They want superstars and well rounded kids — and they are getting it. A 1240 is very low for UF. Last year, 75% of admitted and enrolled kids scored 1300 or above. Definitely worth it to get a better score in by December 15.
