Chances of getting into UF

My sister is currently enrolled at UF in the honors program as biochem major. Naturally, both my parents and I would love for me to go to UF along with her as a part of the "legacy." I did slack off quite a bit in my h.s. years but tried to take super challenging courses regardless. My grades aren't spectacular and my sat's are below average for their regular students, I know. I basically already understand that unless I magically managed to get a 32+ on the ACT i recently took (which the chances are .0001%), I will not be getting in, and I am prepared for the rejection letter. However, if anyone knows of anyone with similar stats to me getting in without curing brain cancer first I would love to know. I am on the verge of top 5% of my class (5.4%), and nothing about me is outstanding. If you could put it into a percent, what do you believe my chances are?

Here are my basic stats:

you’re in for UCF and FSU. raise you’re gpa and you’ll have good chances for UF, especially since you have a legacy. and no, you’re not below average on their scores. you’re in the middle

yeah middle of the pack, so I’d say an average chance, since you have their avg stats

I would say you have a pretty good chance. I’m assuming you UF GPA will be good and a 1910 is average topped off with a good class rank. A match for sure.

I really hope I get in, I went on another site (mychances or something) that supposedly calculates your “chance” of getting into certain colleges and it claimed I had a 75% chance with their accuracy for UF being 85%, which would be amazing. We will see when February comes. What worries me the most is that I am not top five percent, but I am right on the verge (22/388).

You’re in the 25th percentile for GPA (admitted freshmen had 4.1-4.4)
Your SAT’s are good (around 50-60th percentile)
Class rank is good

High match/low reach probably

then there are cases like this so you never know

[In-demand U. | Gainesville.com](http://www.gainesville.com/article/20070729/LOCAL/707290306)

your act score is making up for the gpa
your rank is helping you a bit too
you have a pretty good chance of getting in esp. with the legacy
good luckkk :)

^she doesnt know her ACT score

i did standby acts so I have yet to get my score. Im so nervous, I dont think I did well.

You do know it is the Gators, not Gaters, right? Haha!

As a fellow South Floridian, I can tell you that you are definitely in at UCF and FSU. Your rank and GPA are semi-in the ballpark for UF. I think you have a pretty great shot, though there may be some element of luck involved. Best of luck!

Just thought I would update this post in case anyone comes across this thread again. I did get in to the University of Florida, and I am currently residing in Broward after a wonderful Summer B experience in Sledd Hall. I couldn’t be happier.

Gator Sister:

My son is applying this year.

Could you tell me a little about starting in the summer. Is the campus a ghost town, for example?

He really doesn’t want to do that, but I understand it is somewhat easier to get in if you apply for the summer.

You’ll get in.
