Chances of Getting Into University

I know it isn’t enough to just say I want to go to so-and-so university (La Verne, in my case) when I know my 10th grade gpa is terrible. I know I want to pursue the path of becoming a physician, and i plan to focus and do better in 11th and 12th(although i know most school don’t really look at 12th). It’s getting harder to get into universities than community colleges, so my question is, will I still have a chance to pursue a university instead of a community college with a low sophomore year g.p.a that i plan to take summer school for…(I’d rather not say what I got but it’s low, freshman year was better, at least a 3.5)

I’m not sure how a 15/16 year old knows he/she wants to become a physician (I don’t need an answer).

Nobody can hazard a guess about you whether you can go directly into a 4 year university or have to take community college pathway without knowing actual GPA at time of applying, SAT/ACT scores, ECs, etc.

As to med school: here’s the thing, once you graduate high school, you’ll essentially start the pathway to becoming a physician with a clean slate. In other words med schools really don’t care about your high school academics, except if you took college courses in high school. So try to prepare yourself for college in remaining high school years as best as possible. Consider pushing yourself (eg perhaps Honors level courses) to further develop time management skills and gain confidence in handling more difficult course material. You can get into med school going to community college then transferring to a 4 year university. Also don’t forget to enjoy remaining high school years. Good luck.
