Can I get into any of these schools. I am Indian and live in Texas.

Sat Scores
Math -720
Reading -750
Writing-700
(Reading and Math Total) - 1470
(Total) - 2170

Sat Subject Tests
Math-730
U.S. History-750

Gpa - 3.8 Unweighted
93.8 /100
Rank-89/450 kids
^^^^ I know this is bad, but my school is very competitive, my teachers and counselors have mentioned in my letters of recommendations that at surrounding schools I would have had a higher rank.

Activities
Won Science Fairs
Karate for all four years, got my black belt
Youth Club all four years
In 3 clubs in school
Volunteered at a hospital for 50 hours
Volunteered at Doctors' offices for 340 hours
Volunteered at a Community Center for 4 years, 100 hours approx.

Class rank makes these all reaches (they're all about equal in terms of selectivity, with maybe the exception of NW, which is pretty tough)...but they're all "low" reaches...as in, I'd be surprised if they ALL turned you down. You'll get into at least one or two, likely more.

The ECs aren't stellar but aren't really a deal breaker. I would say you all but Georgetown and Carnegie Mellon are reaches, and Gtown and CM are high matches.

That being said I think you will likely make it into one of the two. As for the others, it's pretty much a dice game.

i am gonna have to agree w/ mariambaby3. Your GPA/SAT are fine but ECs is going to hurt you for a bit.. Idk what to say about ranks, because if you have 3.8 and is 89th, then that means either you are in a very competitive school or the classes are so easy that everyone has As. Your GC will send school forms so depending on that, your rank will either hurt you or wont do anything. (i dont think it will help you at all..)
I would say just write awesome essays and recs, and you will have a chance.

Are my extracurriculars really that bad? I thought the weakest part of my applicantion was my class rank? Thank-you for your help.....I should have done more to increase my extracurriculars.

I imagine that Gtown and CM will accept you, and with ED at Rice I imagine that they might accept you as well. As for the other schools, probably waitlist.

It's not that they're bad, but it's just that they don't stand out much. Plenty of people do karate, school clubs, volunteering, and for schools like Cornell and Northwestern, they get enough spectacular applicants that they can only pick out the ones that really stand out. Also, "Won Science Fairs"-- elaborate.

Can someone tell me my chances for Cornell?
Thats my #1 choice
Then its Northwestern
Then Rice
Then Washington University St.Louis
Then Vanderbilt
Then Emory
^^^^^^I haven't even visited any of these schools except Rice, Planning on doing that over thanksgiving or chrismatas break, so input on the campus and surrounding areas will be helpful
