Does anyone have any advice or tips for getting in? I want to go to WashU more than anything in this world.

Thank You

Why do you want to transfer to Washu from Emory?

wow, thats so funny, b/c there was another emory kid that got into wash u last semester, good luck

so what are my chances? in your opinion?

bump..............

Sorry, I can't help you with specifics, but from what I've learned, transferring is hard. I bet you already knew that, but that's about all I know. As a high school senior, I applied to Washington University and Emory. If you don't mind, can you tell us why you want to transfer?

because emory is just not for me. Emory is a terrific school, but I don't think that I'm meant to be here.

I'm curious, how come EVERYONE wants to transfer out of Emory? The ratio of people on here transferring out of Emory, to the ratio of people who want to transfer into Emory is probably like 10:1

madden bus, that's not true. everyone is not trying to transfer out of emory. Just two people. the reasons that I want to transfer also have to do with illness, and I need to be home in st. louis (i'm originally from st. louis) to fully recuperate. emory is a wonderful school in which i have grown tremendously. however, certain things just aren't meant to be.

so what do you think my chances of admission are?

well, 3.5 at Emory with those ecs, being a URM, gives you a good shot. Your SAT is slightly below their average, but in college that prob won't matter too much. Prob got a 60% chance of getting in. That's what I'd say.

Also, it isn't just you two. I've seen many other people trying to transfer from Emory to a school with more "prestige" like Harvard. It's almost like people think Emory is the transfer gateway to HYS, I don't get it.

actually, madden bus is so true, i know so many kids at emory that have transfered up to places like Brown and UPenn. That is why its retention rate is only like 93-94 percent

only 93-94 percent? 93-94 is quite high. I'm transferring not because of prestige, but mainly for medical reasons. Besides, it's not like washu is that prestigious in comparison to harvard or brown.

Vtoodler asked for chances, not speculation about the exodus of Emory students.

bump...................

I think that you have an OK chance

bump...................

this is my first post in months, but it has to be said

i was a transfer student last year, i transferred from BU to UPenn. I was considering transferring to Wash U as well, but decided not to. Anyway, the admissions counselors at Wash U that if you had a 3.0 in college, it was sufficient enough. Looking at previous statistics, Wash U accepts over 40 percent of transfers, as opposed to 15-25 percent of other competitive universities. You should be in!!! Good luck

thanks a lot newyorkcity2012!
