Chances of getting off waitlist CPP

Hi,
So I got waitlisted at Cal Poly Pomona For Business Admin I had a 3.4 and 1500 sat. Anyone know the chances of getting accepted off the waitlist. As of rn I’m planning on going to a CC and transferring to Santa Barbara but I would go to Pomona over that route. Thanks!

I would move forward assuming that you will not get off the waitlist.

Is that 1500 CR+M or is it CR+M+W? I’m gonna assume it’s the latter, in which case it’s a possibility. If it’s the former, then you should be set, and I don’t know why you’re not in already.

Its ridiculous, people with 2.8 got in. People I know who doesnt really care about school got in. Or maybe they’re just lying.

@SoCalifornian it’s CR+M+W  and yeah it’s kind of a bummer. I was really hoping to attend this school, and when I heard my friend with a 3.0 got waitlisted it made me feel like it’s pretty much just a nice denial :frowning: so we will see how this plays out, but tbh I don’t see myself getting off

Are you going to commit to other schools?

I was put on the waitlist for transfer with a 2.83 to business admin. (Currently at a 3.4 due to retaking a class.) I figure I’m on the lower end of the waitlist. Worst case scenario is community college one more semester and reapply with a higher GPA.

@HiHello7 well I was accepted to Oregon State and University of Arizona but the oos was too much, and I also got into Sonoma State but was not a fan, so I’m planning on going to a cc and transferring to UCSB

@richhomie Many of the UCSB transfers go to Santa Barbara City College and live at one of the private dorms in Isla Vista (UCSB students are living there as well). Great way to have a 4-year college experience, while saving money going to a CC first (and there’s a transfer relationship that SBCC has with UCSB). You may already be aware, but wanted to throw that out there just in case

I wonder if CPP look at your freshman grades too…

CPP values SAT scores A LOT

@SoCalifornian I got a 2010 with a superscore and I got waitlisted…

@Core2Q Huh? That’s strange. I got a 2060 no superscore, 3.35 GPA NO APs, and I got in for Computer Science, which had a 18% acceptance rate in 2015 apparently. I dunno dude!

On the waitlisted as well for Mechanical Engineering.
ACT 27
Current weighted GPA: ~3.7

I recently called the admission office, and they told me that it’s “random” when picking students from the waitlist.
They look at students with high GPA and test scores from the waitlist. I hope they come out with decisions soon.

For freshmen, CPP uses the same Eligibility Index as the rest of the CSUs - which combines your CSU GPA (just a-g courses from grades 10 and 11) and test scores (SAT M&R Superscore or composite ACT). They rank applicants, taking the highest scores first and stop when the seats are full for each major. They also manage the waitlist top to bottom, admitting the most qualified first. (random must refer to ties).

They are also the ONLY CSU that will admit you with your fallback major. So, put a less competitive major as a plan B.
