Luckybob, Wellesley is not nearly as hard to get into as the other schools at its level, it's probably the easiest of the samll elite schools to get into, but rest aside, Wellesley is no walk in the park, it is still a reach for you, BUT a very reasonable reach, not a crapshot.

ok so i guess ill apply reg to wellseley
so tufts would be a crapshot type of reach for me?
also on tufts application there are short answer questions, does anyone know what they're looking for?

No Tufts is a good reachfor you not too far from your reach, but it'll comedown to some strong point outside of academics for you to get in.

I'd say an unreasonable reach a.k.a as a crapshoot is applying to Harvard with less than a 1300 and a 3.0 gpa. That's a dream school, and if you don't have a real good reason for applying, like national-level swimmer, then that would be a crapshot.

Well I just had a meeting with my counselor and he said that if I applied to Tufts early decision I would have a good amount below 50% chance of getting accepted and that it would be better to apply regular. He says that it would be a very slim chance of getting in.. so I'm really not sure what to do now.

I really don't think it's as bleak as your counselor believes but your GPA needs a booster from your first semester senior year grades (do you have a class rank? If a 3.3 is very high, I don't think it would be a problem) - I'd hold off until ED round II. ED does give you a better chance, but it is becoming increasingly competitive as the

Percent Enrolled via Early Decision 32%

has changed from the previous years of 40%. This means they're accepting less students ED but more RD which I believe is what your counselor is referring to (but the acceptance rate ED is still hovering around in the 40s I believe).

well my counselor told me tufts actually didnt have an ED2 date... it says ED2 on their site but its actually the reg admission date. so i don't know what to do.. meanwhile its the first day of school and im overwhelmed with work already with 4 APs. i feel like im going to explode

Your counselor is wrong then as I know for sure that there is an EDII date. I still think EDII is a better idea. You get to know sooner and you also get the stronger grades (hopefully).

Being 1st generation you have a good shot at Tufts-just work on your GPA thus semester.

Lucky...why do you want to go to Tufts?h

well how do you explain how the reg admit date and ED2 date are both Jan. 1

For EDI you find out Dec 15, for EDII you find out "early Feb", and for RD you find out April 1st. Straight from http://admissions.tufts.edu/apply.htm#Deadlines

word so its the same date but one is just ed
my mom is so retarded, she thinks that if i do ed2 i am getting a lower chance of being accepted than ed1 which really isnt true
shes been buggin me about it and ive been cramming to take an sat2 in october to make the november date..... im so frustrated
