Chances of me Getting into MIT?

Hi im a freshman, and i was wondering if i have a shot at MIT
My 9th grade courses are
Japanese 3H
English 1H
Chemistry 1H
Engineering AP
Pre Calculus H
Tennis.

My courses for 10th grade are
Japanese Language AP
English 2H
Chemistry 2 AP
Physics B AP
Calculus BC AP
Science Research
Tennis

I got strait A's so far, and i got a 800 on the SAT math level 2.
I am on the JV tennis team, and next year I will be on varsity at one of the top tennis schools in the nation.

Go away and don’t think about college. Really. There is no point in it at this point. Come back when you are a junior. You’ll probably have a shot at MIT, just like almost everyone that applies.

^ haha, I wanted to post the same thing but couldn’t figure out how to word it.

I agree. For the next few years, just work hard in school, but at the same time do the things you love. And when the time comes, find the colleges that match your interests. You’ll be happier both in high school and in college.

I don’t agree with the two posters above. Sophomores really aren’t that young; I killed my SAT IIs sophomore year (and would highly recommend doing so to anyone out there. It takes alot of pressure off junior year).

That said, we don’t have a whole lot to chance you off of. Straight As, but everyone has that these days. Are you nationally ranked for tennis? If you’re good enough to get recruited AND you have straight As and a solid SAT/ACT, you’ll probably get in.

^ I don’t think MIT recruit athletes

I believe they kind of recruit them. A coach may scout players, but he doesn’t have nearly as much pull as his counterparts at Duke or Penn State would. In fact, he has even less pull than Harvard’s coaches.

Your chances are 0.001%. I don’t think a high school freshman has ever been admitted to MIT, although I could be wrong.

@ OP -

No one here - not even me - can give you a meaningful “chance.”

Enjoy high school, pursue your passion, and we’ll see you in a few years.

@ Others -

We do recruit athletes, but there are no “slots” or “discretionary picks” or anything like that for coaches at MIT. Our athletes go through the same process as everyone else.

^^ I remember reading an article about this mathematics prodigy who got into MIT at age 13. He would have been a freshman in high school the next year (had he not already done all the coursework to graduate high school years earlier). But yeah, solid point.

OP: Just chill, do your best in school, take the most challenging courses possible, do activities you love and be involved, and select a couple few safety schools.

Relax and take it easy
You can predict all you want but the actual results will not always be as you predicted

AP Engineering? Lol?

Party hard, bro.
That’s more important than getting into college.
You’re only a freshman. Chill out and enjoy high school.
College is going to be a blast and you want to get ready to party hard with your classmates.

Wow, those classes are pretty advanced for being a freshmen. Since I feel like you have the academic portion down, now make sure the rest of your application is balanced.
