I'm really interested in Pitt's conditional acceptance into their Pharmacy School. My GPA has always been and currently is 4.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Next year, I will be taking many AP classes, so my GPA will increase beyond a 4.0.

I am involved in marching band, symphonic band, tennis team, National Honors Society, Interact Club, church council (2 positions), and academic team. I hold a leadership/officer position in church council, and I am confident that I will hold a leadership/officer position in two or three clubs that I am currently involved in. I am also trying to begin a new club at my high school, and I will most likely get a job this summer.

I'm only a sophomore, but I know what it takes to continue my 4.0 GPA. What ACT score should I aim for to get admitted into Pitt's Pharmacy School by conditional acceptance? Any other advice and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Bump. I’d really like to know what you guys think, and I need advice.

apply as early as you can…that’s what i’ve heard. once they’ve filled their quota they won’t accept any more.

How early can you apply? I’m only a sophomore, so I’ve still got a lot of time.

Apply by the end of September of your senior year for the best opportunity. Pitt is looking mostly at your GPA and SAT scores, so keep those up.

I was accepted this year with a conditional for the pharmacy school. I applied at the end of May of my junior year. They look for an sat above 1300 (reading and math) usually… I was just at an info session yesterday as I am trying to decide where to attend in the fall. I had a 1450 and a 4.0 gpa and had no problem getting in. Like others have said… apply as early as possible. They start reviewing applications by early to mid September.

Btw… I believe they only give out around 64 conditional acceptances per year. So definitely focus on keeping your grades up and studying for the sat as I’m sure that it will become more competitive in the next 2 years.

Where I live, we take the ACT. What ACT score should I aim for to get in?

In addition to having an SAT above 1300 they really look for around a 670 or higher on the math section. I know because they didn’t give me the guarantee until I took the SAT again I’m not sure what that would be on the ACT, but if you can, take both the ACT and SAT! Some people do better on one than the other.

Any idea on what the ACT equivalents of those SAT scores would be?

Google it. There are plenty of ACT-SAT conversion charts on the internet.

Just so you guys know Pitt is really big on SAT/Class Rank cutoffs. If you don’t have the class rank and SAT score they want you won’t get the conditional acceptance. My friend and I both applied for conditional acceptance for Pharmacy at Pitt. She had a 1390/1600 SAT score and Top 11% while I had a 1310/1600 SAT score and Top 9%. I got in and she didn’t…

BTW if you live in Michigan or if you’re a OOS student with a lot of money I recommend you apply to Michigan’s Pharmacy school. It’s consistently ranked higher than Pitt and my friend who got denied to Pitt’s Pharm School got in because they require lower SAT scores/Class rank.

you’ll be fine…i have conditional admittance you just have to apply as early as possible and be genuinely interested

A high gpa and high sat or act scores are necessary. pitt considers the numbers. apply early and write a great essay.

just wondering…when did you apply to pittsburgh, and when did they tell you that you got in? I am applying and I have everything in except my transcript, and my guidance councelor says she’ll send it some time this week, do you think they ran out of spots already or do i still have a chance of getting in?

^Don’t worry, it’s still really early in the admission cycle and no decisions should be even out yet. If everything is done except for your transcript to be sent in then you’re right on track to be one of the early applicants.

When do they start reviewing applications then? I plan to send in my app in the next week or so, and the office will probably send in rec letters/transcripts in November. Do the offices start reviewing your app as soon as they get all the stuff, or do they keep your spot in submission until all the materials are in? Hopefully you understand what I’m trying to ask. I feel so panicked now that I read that you have to submit it in early Sept >.<
By the way, are the chances of getting in as an OOS applicant significantly lower?

Thank you soooo much for answering my questions!

They’ll review your app when it’s considered complete (when all your required materials are in). If your school doesn’t send in its part until November then your app wouldn’t be complete until then.

i’m still a little confused on the whole rolling admissions thing. when’s the earliest i can apply? i’m in my junior year of high school now. should i apply around june after i’ve taken SATs again? i just feel like that’s too early and they won’t get my application in september when they start reviewing :?

Sorry for restarting this thread but I am also interested in UPitt’s conditional acceptance pharmacy program. If I’m not in the top ten percent of my class by the time i apply but all my other stats qualify, will i be eliminated from the application pool or will i still be considered?
Also when is the earliest I can apply?
