@kelloggss: I don’t think colleges care that much about your SAT score after a certain point. My counselor said anything above 2200 puts you in the same pile as everyone else with higher scores. Then from there they decide based on grades, ec’s, etc.

woah woah, subtlety, sir
=D

Bumpp…

still man. i really dont think the higher end ivy leagues would appreciate a 2200 sat score. if u examine the stat profile of those schools on cc or on **************, u see that the admitted students usually (around 80-90% not including athletes, legacy) have over 2300. I have a 2310 and i still feel its kinda low for yale, my dream school…

just putting it out there…

affirmative action will get you in anywhere

@kelloggs: I go to a top 20 school in the US and have seen a number of students in the past years get rejected from IVY leagues with perfect SAT scores, and a significant number get accepted with 2100+. Our valedictorian last year had a 2400 and 5.0 gpa and didn’t get into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. SAT scores will only get you so far. Colleges care more about your extracurriculars and what you can bring to the table outside of academics (leadership, athletics, volunteer, etc). We had a bunch of ivy league representatives come to our school at the beginning of the year for college night and they all said it wasn’t necessary for me to retake the SAT and instead to focus on sports and ECs. They said after a certain score they look at your other credentials which say a lot more about someone than their score on a standarized test. A person with a 2100 SAT that has won important scientific competitions and started a foundation to help abused children will get in ANY day over someone with a 2400 SAT that has no ECs.

SHort story short, your 2310 will not hurt you in any way. Your ECs will be the determining factor

Long story short*

bumpppppppppppppp

What’s the point of bumping this? You clearly have the answers you want.

yeah, i agree with mexican. ecs definitely take over once ur standardized scores reach a certain level.

For us canadians though, sat scores are weighed much more heavily since ivies and other good american universities sometimes doubt the legitimacy of our gpas…

its very rare, if at all possible, for an international to get into an ivy with a 2100 without being a recruit or legacy…

Well it’s a good thing your SAT score is 2300+. and honestly the difference between a 2300 and 2400 is like a couple questions which they won’t hold against you. So I think you’re good to go kelloggs. Plus ib is a good way to compare international stidnts. You’ll get into at least a couple ivies.

You definitely have a chance, no way to predict ivy league though. I’d be surprise if you didn’t get jn to any though! You’re golden

Internationals are completely different stories, kelloggss. They’re not even placed in the same piles as domestic applicants.

And I think the others are right. An ivy (one of the top three) interviewer I had said (somewhat sadly) scores are initially used to separate applicants into “groups”. She said roughly 2200+ gets you in the top pile, at which point scores aren’t considered too much with respect to other application factors. It’s no wonder that when stats are released no school has a 25-75% SAT range of higher than 700 for any test. That even leaves out the outliers that may have been pushed through as athletes or legacies.

Anyway, on topic, you (TC) are above competitive anywhere. You’re fine. The only possible deterrent is region (Cali, I think?), which is still negligable.

Your SAT is fine. 2250+ is fine, especially given your ethnicity and your incredible extracurriculars. I would say that you have a great chance at any college, even HYS and UPenn (I’m assuming that you are applying to Wharton) and you’re a match for all of the others.

thanks for all the feedback…much appreciated

@Kellogs: A girl who went to my school (international student) got into Penn with a 1990. She got a lot of aid, even though penn is not need-blind for internationals.
